Barbate has a wonderful promenade...

There are about 20,000 residents in Barbate, although this number increases during the summer months. Its modern layout lacks the charm of some of the more traditional Andalusian villages, but there are a few nice buildings in the heart of the old town. Barbate is a great place to shop as prices are really low and the markets offer plenty of deals. Stock up on all your beach gear here - lilos, surf boards, beach chairs etc - there is plenty of choice at nearly half the price of other nearby costal towns. There is a huge shopping centre being built in the middle of the marina, with loads of designer clothes shops. So, make sure you have your visa on you and get down to some serious shopping. Barbate has a wonderful promenade, where one can stroll for almost two kilometres. This prom stretches from the River Barbate to the Marina.
