A small coastal village, about 12 Km south east of Barbate and 40 Km north west of Tarifa.

It is one of those small fishing villages, where one gets the feeling that you have stepped back in time. It is not a picturesque village by any means but after a while it manages to get under your skin. Sun and beach are its main attractions, but stick around for a while and you'll discover that this small village offers a lot more than initially meets the eye. Tourism here is mainly national, and a lot of people from Cádiz city own a house or two here.

Zahara de los Atunes is ideal for combining hill walking with seaside relaxation, as there are 8 kilometres of unspoiled white sandy beaches.

Three things not to be missed on your next visit:

1. Have a coffee and toast, Spanish style: it doesn't matter where, as long as it's in and around the old part of Zahara de los Atunes. Coffee and toast, soaked in virgin extra olive oil, not to be missed, and all for less than 2 euros! Sit outside any of the local bars and simply watch the world go by.

2. Water sports: head over to Hotel Atlanterra. This beautiful Andalusian-style hotel is a mere 4 kilometres from the town itself, and one can sure to be able to practise their favourite water sports here.

3. Book a boat: Head out to sea on a beautiful yacht, skipper and all, and spend the day discovering hundreds of small coves and beaches. Ideal for the stressed out, and a great way to get to meet new people!
