Medina Sidonia has the whole essence of a Moorish city.

The town is a maze of narrow cobbled streets lined with dazzling white houses. One of Medina's main attractions is its central square, where one can sit for hours on end simply enjoying the peace and quiet.

The town is 3,000 years old, and has been declared an Historic and Artistic Zone of Cultural Interest. Not surprisingly, it was given a prize for the Beautification of Andalusian Towns. Medina Sidonia is well known for its delicious gastronomy and confectionary, and many bakers still follow recipes that date back to the Arab period.

Craftsmanship is gradually gaining more importance in Medina. The town's craftsmen mainly work with reed and leather, producing spectacular baskets and bags in reed and hand-made leather boots and shoes.
