Zahara de los Atunes has managed to avoid mass tourism, and its beaches have remained practically unspoiled. In the summer months they obviously get a bit busier at the weekends, especially on Sundays, but one can still find a place to lie down comfortably without feeling like a sardine in a can.

Zahara is surrounded by windswept countryside. The town itself is located between Los Alcornocales Nature Park and the Pinar de Barbate Nature Reserve. Both parks are listed as some of the most spectacular parks in Europe. They cover hundreds of hectares of land, and have the most amazing ecosystems thanks to their location.
